What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is the use of Essential Oils on the body for relaxation and therapeutic value, usually through massage. Other uses include baths, compresses, inhalation and diffusers.
What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are pure plant extracts, usually derived by steam distillation. Their tiny molecules can pass through the skin in about ten minutes and enter the bloodstream to be distributed throughout the body and benefit all systems and organs. Essential oils are used to alleviate stress, aches and pains, headaches, depression, anxiety and a variety of other ailments. Anyone can experience relaxation and sense of well-being by using these oils on a regular basis.

Skin care using Essential Oils
Essential oils are like the missing link for the skin because of their high antioxidant qualities. These antioxidant qualities fight the free radicals that are floating around in our environment, and in particular help prevent free radicals from penetrating our skins. These oils can be calming or stimulating, warming or cooling, but most important are anti-aging. Essential Oils penetrate the surface of the skin, going to the basal layer where new skin cells are being formed. They stimulate the skin's metabolism, help form healthy cells and strengthen collagen and elastin fibres as well as the cells themselves. All of this combined promotes a stronger skin with improved circulation and a firm base to hold the skin in place.
3000 years ago, Egyptian mummies were preserved with herbs and essential oils. Today, the properties of these oils and herbs are discovered to be still intact. Imagine what they can do for living tissue!
