Lymphatic Drainage
The Lymphatic System lies beside and in the same sheath as the circulatory system.
Excess fluid and toxins are flushed out of the circulatory system and picked up by the Lymphatic vessels. Unlike the circulatory system. the Lymphatic System does not have a pumping action but only one way valves in the larger vesels to prevent backflow of the lymph i.e. the chest. The movement of lymph depends largely upon the movement of the shetal muscles.
As the lymphatic fluid passed through the thoracic ducts in the chest, it is filtered by thousands of lymph nodes clustered around the lymphatic veins. These larger lymph nodes contain shagocites that destroy the bacteria and toxins. This is an important function of our immune system.
